About Kauri Cliffs

Kauri Cliffs was designed and built by David Harmon of Golf Course Consultants, Orlando, Florida. 15 holes face the Pacific Ocean, 6 of which are played alongside cliffs that plunge into the sea. The inland holes meander through marsh, forest and farmland.

Kauri Cliffs accommodation

Cottage accommodation is offered at the Kauri Cliffs Resort. Both the Lodge and the Cottages are first class with heated pool and spa.

Hawke’s Bay is a golfers’ paradise and is home to some of the country’s most scenic golf courses, both old and new. The great local climate enables golf enthusiasts to go for a hit most days of the year at one of the many private (non members welcome) or public golf courses. Early in 2004 the newest, Cape Kidnappers Golf Course opens. It is a multi million dollar course that looks out across the Bay, providing stunning views from Te Awanga, across to Napier and Mahia Peninsula. Cape Kidnappers Golf Course is a sister course of Kauri Cliffs. Driving ranges and practice greens are available to prepare for the day ahead. Designer Tom Doaks.

While you’re down here… The peninsula of Cape Kidnappers is a national icon and an area rich in European and Maori history. Take a walk along the beach to the Gannet reserve – or take a trip with one of the 4X4 or tractor tour operators, there’s even helicopter rides. However you get there, then gannets are worth a look. This coastline is the same one that is visible from the back nine on the course 500 feet above. They nest in the area from October – June.
