The Wellington Golf Club and its Heretaunga course

ROYAL WELLINGTON GOLF CLUB
Heretaunga, Wellington, New Zealand

About the Club

The Wellington Golf Club's course at Heretaunga is both very beautiful and rural and is one of the best tests of golf in New Zealand. Heretaunga is rated as one of the top five courses in the country and is a regular venue for New Zealand Open Championship tournaments, both men's and women's.

The Royal Wellington Golf Club or Heretaunga as it is known in NZ golfing circles was established in 1895 by a group of enthusiastic men and women players, originally on Miramar Peninsula. In 1905, when the lease expired, the club found a permanent home at Heretaunga in the Hutt Valley. From it's earliest days in bleak Hutt Valley paddocks the course has matured into today's magnificent and internationally admired course.
